Hungry for More of God?

"They that hunger and thirst after
righteousness shall be filled."

- Jesus Circa 30 AD

It was around November, 1992, I was an altar worker in a large Baptist church in Waynesville, MO. My job was to pray with and encourage people who came to the altar for prayer. Week after week I knelt and prayed with folks. Then one week I had to admit something: For the most part people were leaving the altar the same way they came. Not much was really changing. A cry was birthed in my spirit, "God there has to be more to Christianity than this!" Since that time I have meet dozens of people who came to the same place. Christians who testified to the exact same feeling and even the exact same words. Perhaps you have found yourself in that place and that is why you are here. Within a couple of months God showed me MORE! After 30 years of living for Jesus there have been a couple of more occasions when that same cry raised up in my Spirit. Christianity is not about achieving righteousness through a set of rules or signing off on the right doctrinal statement, or even getting a perfect attendance star at church. It is an ever-ascending journey towards an infinite God. I have discovered Christianity (or at least our experience of it) comes in stages or levels which might be likened to the construction of a multi story building. Each floor serves as a foundation to build the next level. The cool thing about Christianity is that the top floor is heaven and there's no place to stop before that. There is a great maturing of the Church for the last days. Things are changing. One of those things might be YOU. If you have found yourself in some confusion. Things to Know and Steps to Take Toward a Experiencing More in God

You have to believe there is more available
If you believe you have all there is you will never have faith to receive more.
Believe God wants to give you more
"If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give the Holy Ghost to them that ask him?" Matthew 11:13
Humility is essential
"But he gives more grace. Therefore He said, God resists the proud, but give grace to the humble." James 4:6 Grace is both unmerited favor and divine enablement. We can have MORE grace in our lives.
Desire is imperative
"Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of your heart." Psalms 37:4
Spiritual hunger and thirst, by definition, includes some discomfort.
If you have every really been hungry or thirsty you understand there is some discomfort associated with it. That nagging ache when your body screams, "I need water." The same is true of spiritual hunger and thirst. Many people do not realize the discomfort they feel is there human spirit crying out to be nurished.
More fruit comes with pruning
"Every branch in me that bears not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that bears fruit, he prunes it, that it may bring forth more fruit." John 15:2
You don't get more by self effort
The flesh can never produce spiritual things, so no amount of fleshly effort will give you more of God. More of God comes only through the Holy Spirit.

"And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."

Jeremiah 29:13
